Forum Meetings

Forum meetings take place quarterly and rotate around member sites, with the first part being presented by the host, followed by a collaborative session. The first meeting of 2010 took place on the 9th of March and was hosted by Total. Resources
from these meetings are available on the online Portal.

Masterclasses

Industry analysts present on current topics in IM, leading into group discussion and exercises. Member companies may send up to three attendees. Non members can attend for a fee of £995.

Analyst Access

Membership provides you with two Ovum/Butler group reports that normally retail for £1495 each, per year.  Each member organisation will receive one hardcopy and PDF copy. Last year’s reports were on Enterprise Collaboration and Information Security.
You will also receive monthly research, opinion and news.

Analyst enquiry time gives you the chance to question leading analysts on reports or opinions. Complimentary access to Ovum/Butler Group
Symposia, Strategy Briefings, Strategy Forums and Webinars is also included. Recent and upcoming topics include Data Warehousing and Information Management and Collaboration.

Online Portal

The Forum has an online Portal (www.imenergyforum.com) where members can access and share information and resources. The Forum includes reports, discussion forums, an events calendar, wikis, chatrooms, vacancies and summaries of Forum activities.

Research

There is potential to facilitate, conduct and commission research into IM issues. If you have an issue which you think is suited to a research
approach, we’d like to hear about it! We will work with the Robert Gordon University (RGU) and Ovum as appropriate.

Sub-groups

Sub-groups will be created within the IM Energy Forum. Potential group topics include:

• Retention Schedules and file plans, disposals
• Archiving/storage and disposal
• Governance and Compliance/Regulatory Requirements
• Taxonomy and Metadata
• Controlled Distribution, Transmittals
• Records Management
• Knowledge Management
• Definitions within IM, what is the scope of IM?
• Training and Resourcing
• Service Management (performance, SLAs, KPIs etc.)
• Document Control
• Geoscience/Data Management
• Technical Platforms (Documentum, LiveLink, SharePoint, Conisio, etc.)

Benchmarking

In response to interest expressed by Forum members in comparing the size, scope and effectiveness of IM in different companies we will conduct a work scope and performance review across members in the energy sector. This major project is currently being scoped and more details will be provided later in the year.
