The IM Energy Forum

For Energy Information Management Specialists

The IM Energy Forum helps UK oil and gas information management specialists shape information management strategy and transform current operations. Bringing together experts, academics and technology providers, it provides you with access to thought leaders, information resources, industry best practice and networking events. The Forum is a collaboration project between The Robert Gordon University and Amor Group, Scotland's largest independent IT company.IMenergy

Forum Meetings

Driven by members, Forum Meetings take place on a quarterly basis rotating around Forum management and member sites. The host determines the topic which, in most cases, is interactive. Following the Forum, resources are made available on the Forum Portal. Consistently the feedback from Forum members is that they relish the opportunity to discuss issues in their field with like-minded colleagues. The next Forum Meeting will be on the 15th of February 2011 at Amor Group's Datacentre. Click the link on the left for more information.

Masterclasses

Taking place bi-annually, Masterclasses allow industry experts to engage attendees on current Information Management (IM) topics allowing for group discussion and activities. Member companies can send up to three attendees to each Forum Masterclass and non-members can attend for a fee of £995. The next Masterclass will be in H1 2011. Click the link on the left for more information.

Online Portal

The Forum has an online Portal where members can access and share information and resources. The Forum includes reports, discussion forums, an events calendar, wikis, chatrooms, vacancies and summaries of Forum activities.

Research

There is potential to facilitate, conduct and commission research into IM issues. If you have an issue which you think is suited to a research
approach, we’d like to hear about it! We will work with the Robert Gordon University (RGU) and other partners as appropriate. This is how the 2010 Benchmarking study came about and is being extended in 2011.

Benchmarking

In response to interest expressed by Forum members in comparing the size, scope and effectiveness of IM in different companies we will conduct a work scope and performance review across members in the energy sector. This major project is currently being scoped and more details will be provided later in the year.

Training

The Forum and RGU are working together to develop a training course for energy industry information professionals. Forum members will beinstrumental in scoping the course and will influence its development throughout 2011, resulting in a discount when the course goes live in 2012.
